Screen Shot 2015-10-17 at 3.28.55 AMBEHOLDER is a journal of people, places, and things described in fantastic and captivating ways. Inspired by the storytellers and bards of antiquity, the world building of J.R.R. Tolkein, C.S. Lewis, H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Robert Jordan, Margaret Atwood, George R.R. Martin, Cixin Liu, Brandon Sanderson, and of course, Gary Gygax, as well as classic role playing games like Dungeons & Dragons™ and White Wolf™, we seek to showcase narrative descriptions that bring imagined worlds to life. Our goal is to publish work not only from well-known authors, but also game masters and players whose story telling talents have largely been hidden from the public eye.

BEHOLDER welcomes submissions from any interested party, be they best-selling author, accomplished poet, veteran RPG game master, or experienced player. Descriptions should be relatively brief (no more than 250 words), focus on sensory detail, and avoid unnecessary exposition.  Imagine yourself describing a scene, an object, a person, or an effect to a group of rapt listeners.  How would you use language to construct a believable experience?
