Before you break the rules, learn the rules. That way it’s deliberate instead of a “happy accident.” If you are doing things to rebel against the systems already set up, then you need to learn why they are there.

The biggest way to break the rules is to educate yourself. If you have knowledge and the history of how things work, then you can bend, shape, snap and mold the “rules” to whatever method you want.

There are some rules that I don’t break–like rules of consent. Rules of appropriate behavior, but with my art–anything goes.

I am a lyrical/traditionalist that is open to rebellion. I’m that quiet kid in the back of the classroom who takes notes and is studious but is in detention all the time.

Huh. Guess my attitude hasn’t changed much since high school.
